The event aims as well to increase the representation of circular building principles in Poland based on the best tailor-made solutions and German experiences, to enhance circular procurement, to encourage key players in the construction industry to use secondary materials and, finally, to increase the scale and volume of collection of materials for reuse and recycling, for example through regional material cadastres. The event is organized in cooperation with Embassy of Germany in Warsaw and intends to build a bridge between Polish and German representatives of various branches operating in the construction sector, across the whole value chain and establish a forum to discuss and work on the most promising solutions that will accelerate implementation of Fit for 55 package and thus effective transformation towards circular economy models with respect to the environmental, geopolitical, and social conditions occurring locally.


In the first part, there will be a presentation showcasing key practices from Germany, and expert keynote speeches. This presentation will be followed by the expert panel discussions focusing on implementing the best circular construction strategies, accelerating circular construction development The second panel will focus on selection and safe use of secondary materials.

  • 10 min | Keynote speech "Waste to build: how to effectively develop a local re-use sector for construction materials?" by Marine Courmont Lelieur - Head of European and International Affairs at the National Institute for Circular Economy (INEC)


10:50 – 12:00 - Panel 1. Building circularity – transition from niche to mainstream

  • Circular construction is still uncommon despite obvious benefits. What seems to be the problem?

  • Showcases of successful circular buildings in the past that influenced the mass market, if there are any.

  • External circumstances (e.g. energy costs) seem to drive circularity. Can we help this process without alienating the society?

  • What we can do? - circular procurement, financing models, role of financial institutes

Dominik Campanella - founder of Concular - the leading company for circular construction in Germany. With more than 70 people and 400 successfully executed projects, he sets new standards for circular construction. For example, he led the development of the first circular construction standard in Germany: DIN SPEC 91484, which will now be standardized in the EU. He is also developing the first insurance for reclaimed construction materials. Dominik is part of several committees, such as the Leadership Group for Circular Construction at the European Commission.


Alicja Kuczera - CEO of the Polish Green Building Council.

Expert in sustainable construction, circular economy, and decarbonization of building resources. For a decade, she has been dynamically developing the most vigorous Polish non-governmental organization in the construction sector, striving to make sustainable construction the norm in Poland. She initiates and implements international projects contributing to the fight against climate change. Active in international cooperation on sustainable construction, she currently leads the network of managing directors of sister associations worldwide within the World Green Building Council. Author of numerous reports and publications recognized in the construction and real estate industry. Speaker at many conferences and seminars organized both domestically and internationally. Privately, a mother, travel enthusiast (having visited 82 out of 196 planned countries), and advocate of an eco-friendly, healthy lifestyle.
